Location: Providence, Rhode Island

MAIN PURPOSE: To evaluate clients in order to identify needs, develop, implement and document an appropriate speech ! therapy treatment program, which achieves quantifiable results.II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1.Provide formal and informal evaluation of functional capabilities of clients on assigned caseload. Review results with clients and their families, as well as classroom staff, when indicated.2.Develop and implement individual education plans and ongoing treatment programs addressing specific goals with measurable outcomes.

Schedule clients to meet requirements of education plan.3.Maintain written documentation of all evaluations, IEP goals, SLP treatment plans, progress notes, and communication with doctors and families in accordance with agency formats, in a professional manner, and in compliance with an established time frame.4.Participate actively, cooperatively and constructively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Provide instruction and guidance to ensure that the clients’ IEP goals are integrated into a comprehensive educational program.5.Assess, create, and maintai! n adaptive and augmentative equipment to facilitate the functi! onal communication needs of the students.6.Provide consultation and home programs for the students and their families/caregivers to facilitate attainment of the goals identified in IEP. 7.Keep a written record of equipment on loan.8.Attend IEP and team meetings as directed.9.Perform other duties as directed or required.10.Assist in the evacuation of children and clients during fire drills or other emergencies.11.CPR trainingIII. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1.May be required to attend to students’ personal needs.

2.Able to lift and transport clients who are not self-ambulatory.3.Physically able to perform duties.4.Provide own transportation to meet job needs.5.Host agency volunteers and observers.6.Participate in special agency projects and committees as requested. Act as a member of committees related to discipline and/or special skill area.7.Represent the agency as requested.8.Supervise clinical students (when applicable). Assign caseload and treatment schedule. Inst! ruct in treatment techniques and act as a resource.

9.Follow agency guidelines for fieldwork supervision. Complete formal written midterm and final evaluations.10.Maintain level of competence and update professional knowledge and skills (journals, conferences, inservices etc.).IV. QUALIFICATIONSA. SKILLS?Familiarity with standard equipment used in evaluation/treatment of school-aged population (including students with multiple disabilities); augmentative communication technique/equipment/strategies; pediatric dysphagia assessment and treatment techniques?Effective and cooperative when dealing with people.B.

PROFESSIONAL AND LEGAL STANDARDS?Licensure as a registered speech/language pathologist from the Rhode Island Department of Health?Certificate from Rhode Island Department of Education?Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech/language pathology from ASHA?ASHA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics?Use and disclose PHI only as authorized, as necessa! ry to carry out job duties?Complete privacy and security training?Repor! t suspected violations including those of a business associate or contractorC. EXPERIENCE?Pediatric experience is preferred.D. TRAINING AND EDUCATION?Master’s Degree from ASHA approved program in speech/language pathology.?RI Chauffer’s license or ability to obtain V. WORKING ENVIRONMENT?Work in individual/group treatment and classroom settings ?Field trips are an integral part of school program and take place in a variety of environments.
