Beginning 2012 Fall Semester Academic Year Work S chedule ; Tenure-Track position
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Professor will hold a faculty appointment and have administrative, academic and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the Nursing Department and the Community College of Rhode Island. This individual will demonstrate competence in teaching and development of curriculum as well as clinical competence in one of the following specialty areas: Medical / Surgical Nursing, Maternal / Child Health, or Pediatrics.
The primary responsibilities are to (1) facilitate learning in the college classroom and laboratory, (2) instruct students in accordance with the established curriculum, (3) Must maintain the ability to fulfill all instructor responsibilities on assigned clinical units at varied sites, (4) counsel students relative to their academic progress, (5) contribute to the development and revision of curriculum, and (6) partici pat e in faculty meetings to ensure coordination of didactic instruction and clinical experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Masters Degree in Nursing required. 2. Active license (or eli gible for licensure) as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. 3. The equivalent of five yearsâ full-time experience in the nursing field. 4. Current acute care experience required. 5. Current CPR for healthcare providers AHA certification. 6. Current experience with computer modalities. 7. E xperience in classroom and/or clinical instruction , preferably in a nursing program. 8. Strong communication, organization, interpersonal and counseling skills. 9. Experience, by education or employment, with curriculum design and evaluation, as well as student assessment. 10. Current skill and knowledge in the use of information technology and demonstrated experience with integration of computer technology into instruction. 11. Ability to thrive in a dynamic teaching/learning environment requiring flexibility, adaptability and teamwork.
