Description : The Respiratory Care Practitioner PD working in the Respiratory Care Unit under the general supervision! of the Clinical Supervisor, and according to established procedure and techniques administers respiratory therapy procedures and treatments designed to evaluate, prevent, stabilize or remedy a patient's disease process. Rotates charge responsibilities or works on Pediatric Intensive Care Unit without direct supervision. May provide instruction for new therapy techniques.
Qualifications : High School level of knowledge plus completion of an AMA approved Associate Degree Respiratory Therapy program. Certification required. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Rhode Island. Interpersonal skills to instruct and calm patients. Analytical skills to interpret blood gas report, calculate results of pulmonary functions tests and inter-related data from various medical disciplines. Leadership ability to establish priorities and assign work to practitioners when assigned charge responsibilities and to instruct new students. Ability to operate all res! piratory therapy and diagnostic testing equipment. Demonstrate! d knowledge and skills necessary to provide care patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. EXPERIENCE: Up to one year on-the-job experience to be familiar with the job routine and department policies and procedures.
