Pediatric Emergency Room Nurse - (Peds ER RN - Pedi ER RN)

This emergency department is designated as a Level I trauma center, serving the needs of young trauma patients as well as children needing less acute care. The department is staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week by specialists trained in pediatric emergency medicine and other pediatric sub-specialties, including toxicology, pediatric emergency medicine and critical care. The 12,200-square-foot emergency department is staffed by eleven full-time physicians and sees more than 48,000 patients a year. The facility includes: Fifteen individual treatment rooms, Four-bed observation unit, Two-patient critical care room, Dedicated diagnostic imaging capabilities.
The pediatric emergency room nurse (Pedi ER RN) provides care to patients ranging from newborns to 18 years of age who need immediate care for conditions such as seizures, diabetes, asthma, hemophilia, appendicitis, metabolic diseases, lacerations, fractur! es, oncologic emergencies, psychiatric crises, and other illne! sses. The pediatric ER nurse performs assessments and examinations, administers medications, starts IVs, performs catheterizations and CPR, and assists with splinting broken bones, in addition to other duties, working closely with the patients' families in the process. The pediatric ER unit may also serve as the pediatric burn and/or trauma center.
Required Qualifications
- ACLS/BLS/PALS.
- Prior Level I children's hospital ER experience required.
1 year of Travel Exp - HIGHLY prefer - at least 1 travel assignment req.
